-So, when is the Bible Bee again?
It is November 16th-19th. The preliminary rounds are on Thursday, and the final rounds are on Saturday.
-Where is it going to be?
The Nationals will take place in Nashville, Tennessee.
-Are you already practicing for it?
YES!!!!! Moving on...
-How many verses do you have memorized?
Altogether I've memorized 1100 for this year's Bee. I memorized 800 this summer and 300 more since September. I didn't have to memorize 1100 separate verses. They were split up into passages ranging from one verse to the longest at seventeen verses.
-How does the competition work?
First, we have a written test on the two books we studied, 1st and 2nd Peter. It is a multiple choice test with 200 questions. We have an hour to complete it. Then, we move on to our first oral round, which we do in front of only two judges. There is a set list of 25 passages which we have ten minutes to get through. The highest scorers from these preliminary round go on to the final round which is an on stage, spelling-bee like elimination round. In the case of the Nationals, there is a semi-final round with the top fifteen, then a final round with the top five contestants. If a contestant makes any error in the passage they are given they are eliminated from the round.
Well, that's all for today, I hope you enjoyed it. I certainly enjoyed writing Bible Bee trivia that is probably not applicable to your life, (unless you are in the Bible Bee too. In that case, see you in Nashville!)
Keep on glowing in the dark,
Elora
